Battle of the Virtual Tours

Glancing around the internets yesterday, I came across this virtual tour of the future home of many more App State victories The Citadel Bulldogs. It looks pretty nice, but everyone knows Rock beats Legos.

Checking in on that NC-Ohio trade deficit

Tomorrow is the two-month anniversary of The Game (aka. The Day App State T-Shirts Became Fashionable). USA Today happened to reflect this week on the ensuing economic benefits to App State, as our shirts remain hotter than Lynch love. Cause you see, there’s a huge game coming up with earth shattering national title implications (No, not that one. This one.) And some Buckeyes are coming dressed to impress.

(ASU) estimates 30% of the online orders came from Ohio and . . . → Read More: Checking in on that NC-Ohio trade deficit

Probably one of the best photos of Coach Moore I’ve seen

Yeah, this cover was cool, but this one is pretty tough to top. Coach Jerry Moore fronts the November issue of Decision Magazine, a publication of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Inside a profile of Moore is part of a “behind-the-scenes look at what God is doing in the lives of top coaches and players.” It includes some great photos and quotes.

The day after the Mountaineers brought down the Big House in Ann Arbor, Moore started his . . . → Read More: Probably one of the best photos of Coach Moore I’ve seen

Tomorrow’s preview today from two weeks ago

Glancing at the Live Broadcast schedule at GoASU.com, I see that tomorrow is media day for … drum roll please … SOCON BASKETBALL!! Who’s hyped!! Who’s hoped!! Who’s down! And who’s already out! (My money is on Wofford. Karma, baby, Karma)

If you just have to get your App State fix now, FoxSports.com had a nice preview package posted a few days ago. (I’d have linked earlier, but GSU happened and the anti-depressants finally kicked in today).

Actually, it’s . . . → Read More: Tomorrow’s preview today from two weeks ago

AppFan Photo of the Day

Monday Night Football tonight – The Green Bay Packers at the Denver Broncos. Look for Jason Hunter, No. 57. Nice form on the line, huh?

Let’s get happy …

Happy belated birthday to Matt Cline, who turned 20 yesterday.

NUMBER: 17

JOB: Wide receiver, keeping defenses honest, biding his time

KEY STATS: In his third game as a freshman walkon last season, he caught an 11-yard pass and rushed twice for 10 yards. But a hand injury forced him to sit our the rest of the season as a medical redshirt. Caught a pass for 16 yards against GW, but hasn’t played since due to rib injury.

The Day After – Furman

Appalachian State’s Pierre Banks (31) comes up to stop Furman’s Mike Brown (15). Appalachian State defeated Furman 34-27. (AP Photo/The Greenville News, George Gardner)

Congratulations App State, you just beat Furman on the road! You’re now in sole possession of fifth-place in the Southern Conference standings!

Strange, but true.

Armanti is back to being Armanti. (Weak arm? What weak arm?) Kevin Richardson is Kevin Richardson. And Corey Lynch, well .. he’s Superman.

SoCon forecast – App season low looking for a new high

Your three-game SoCon forecast:

Greenville, S.C., App State at Furman. Recent local drought conditions have abated thanks to relief two of the past three weekends, but any warm feelings will be stopped cold. An unexpected ice storm moves into the area overnight, as severe lows seek to steal warmth for a new fire. There will be plenty of slush on the field, with total game rushing accumulations of more than 400 yards possible. There’s a 35% chance of up . . . → Read More: SoCon forecast – App season low looking for a new high

The wedding toast with Koozies was a nice touch

Wedding day checklist:

Bride’s dress? Check

Caterer? Check

Bridesmaids jersey number? Uh … gimme a sec. Hey honey, what number are the bridesmaids wearing again?

On September 30, 2007, Panthers fans Mark Wyatt and Amy Mogler were married at a “tailgate” ceremony held at the Omni Hotel in Charlotte, NC. A reception followed immediately after, with tailgate cuisine ranging from BBQ short-ribs, gourmet hamburgers, stadium-style hot dogs, and Panthers-blue punch. …

Josh Jeffries has a way with words

Somehow we missed this big update from the land of Arena Football (We must have blinked during SportsCenter). Back in August the Los Angeles Avengers (Assemble!) signed fullback/linebacker/defensive end/Ironman Josh Jeffries to a three-year contract extension. He’s in LA through 2010. Life is good. And for Josh, it always has been.

Five years ago this month he was the boast of the town in Boone. He was The Man! With App down 15-14 and no real time left on . . . → Read More: Josh Jeffries has a way with words
