A great Mountaineer. The world needs more Avery Halls.

New coach hire official. Welcome to App State, Coach Carter.

Hockey talk. School that beat App State in bball wants to be the App State of football when it takes on App State victim in hockey. Got that?

Big road series starts today. Time to see if the Apps are for real.

JMU gets a new basketball coach. And he’s making some serious money.

I went to 3Peat Nation and all I got was this t-shirt

Once upon a time it used to be that the sighting of an App State shirt outside Boone was as rare as a literate GSU fan (sorry, couldn’t resist). Now as fast on you can say, “One, Two, Three in a Row,” App fashion is everywhere.

According to one Salisbury shop keeper, the No. 1 football team in the state has become No. 2 in its heart.

“I’d say 75 percent of the people who come in are Carolina . . . → Read More: I went to 3Peat Nation and all I got was this t-shirt

Love week continues as Davidson keeps getting cooler

What’s cool? Your team making the Sweet Sixteen.

What’s cooler than cool? Your team making the Sweet Sixteen and everybody fawning over it.

What does a Packer do in the offseason

Each year prior to the Super Bowl, Disney makes plans to get someone, preferably the game’s biggest star, to utter those immortal words, “I’m going to ESPN The Weekend at Disneyworld!”*

Apparently the Most Commercialized Happiest Place on Earth is also a destination for those who need to recover from getting thisclose to the big game. Someone like App State hero and Green Bay “special teams ace” Jason Hunter.

GoPacker.com recently asked him what he’s been doing this offseason.

Cause I can’t in good conscience leave the last two posts at the top of my blog. Yosef would kill me.

Do you want to drink! Do you want to party!

UPDATE: This post has generated some comments from our friends down at GSU, a few I have deleted due to naughty language. I also want to be clear that I’m not ragging on GSU. I’m envious of this event. I wish App State was doing something this big this spring for fans.

Since I’ve been giving love to those kill me now Sweet D-Cats, I may as well lose all my cookies and salute the fine feathers down . . . → Read More: Do you want to drink! Do you want to party!

You can't escape Davidson

How big is getting to the Sweet Sixteen as a Cinderella? Consider -

Your star player gets Five Good Minutes.

The nation gets its weather from your backdoor.

Your official theme song is adored and ironic.

Everyone wants to meet your family.

The bandwagon grows .. and gets taller.

One disappointment – No cover.

Contrast the D-Cat love with the App State hugs after The Upset. Pretty similar. Or are . . . → Read More: You can't escape Davidson

Apparently Sen. Dole doesn't read her own legislation

Earlier this year, N.C. Senators Richard Burr and Elizabeth Dole co-sponsored legislation commending App State for making Histor3. The resolution opened by -

He's here to pump – CLAP – them up

Former App State great Brad Ohrt has gone where few men willingly go. The 1994 All-American has agreed to help add some pop to the ‘Whee.

Western Carolina director of athletics Chip Smith has hired Brad Ohrt to be the Catamounts’ strength and conditioning coordinator.

Ohrt, who served at WCU from 2000-01, spent the past year as the assistant strength coach with the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins. Ohrt is a 1994 graduate of Appalachian State, where he was . . . → Read More: He's here to pump – CLAP – them up

Here we go again with the App State references

If, like me, you were wondering how long it would take someone to pull out the “it’s just like App State!” reference when talking the Sweetness that is Davidson, well wonder no longer.

The answer is in – 48 hours, give or take a few.

“This has done as much for our conference as anything can possibly do,” Cremins said. “This is like Appalachian State winning back-to-back national championships in football. That’s how big this is.

Yes, that’s Bobby . . . → Read More: Here we go again with the App State references
