Don't Miss

False start, five yards, repeat First Pick

No, i ain’t watchingThe NFL Draft was scheduled to begin tomorrow, but son of a Marino, them Dolphins have done jumped the gun. The worst team in the league last season announced earlier this week that it signed Michigan tackle Jake Long. Which proves that there are still people out there who have never seen The Upset.

A $57 million tackle? And did you stop to realize that this tackle played on the big-time Big Ten football team that lost to Appalachian State? His major assignment on his football team is to block for the ball carrier. Sort of drudge work, requiring no sophisticated talent, such as catching or throwing a football, just helping clear a path for the guy who carries it under his arm.

Maybe (Bill Parcells) should have looked at the Appalachian State tackle that Jake didn’t get blocked.

For the record, Long was not officially playing college football last season. It was more like Red Rover, as in, “Red Rover, Red Rover, Send Pierre Banks on over!”

Actually, it was Gary Tharrington who lined up against Long for most of the afternoon. Pierre Banks got his sack because Michigan only had ten players on the field that play. The absent player was supposed to have picked up Banks.

You check it, Charlie. They only had 10. The slot man ran who was supposed to block Banks ran off the field.

In the bottom portion of the video, you can see the top of the helmet of the Michigan wideout. The replay clearly shows 11 players.
