How would you spend that SoCon money

Suggested t-shirt for the inaugural SoCon FanFest – My top basketball team made me millions and all I could think of was this event.

After posting this pop quiz last week, we found comments from the commish on the origin of that ‘big’ August party – Davidson. The D-Cats’ NCAA run made the league $4.5 million in never to be seen again unexpected revenue. With all that new money laying around, the league brainstormed how best to spend it.

Just when you thought it was safe to return to the Dirty 'Nooga

It’s been three years, so 3Peat Nation should know the drill. When thinking ahead to the annual App State Bowl FCS National Title game in the Dirty ‘Nooga, you must:

1) Reserve lodging ASAP 2) Purchase tickets the day App State (fingers crossed) makes the playoffs 3) Brainstorm your great sign 4) Decorate your wheels

Time to add one more item to the to-do list – pack some heat. That, or some quality Kevlar.

Judge’s orders.

It's mid-June, perfect time to argue I-A

The Missoulian has posted part one of a four-part series on “the viability of Montana moving up to big-time college football.” Today’s intro is really just that, setting the stage for exploring two I-A FBS programs (one “strugging,” one not) and then evaluating where Montana would fit in with the big boys.

And yes, 3Peat Nation is mentioned, and honorably.

In the meantime, Montana would need to come up with funding for two more women’s sports – complete with . . . → Read More: It's mid-June, perfect time to argue I-A

CFL kicks off tonight and I want revenge

The Canadian Football League season begins tonight with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats mixing it up with the Montreal Alouettes. Two weeks ago the contest promised a sweet App State reunion – Richie “The Man” Williams suiting up against The TD Machine Kevin Richardson.

Sadly, it ain’t gonna happen.

Richie will be on the field tonight, albeit as the backup QB. As for K-Rich, he’s back to looking for a job. He was given up by ze French last week.

This is gonna hurt

Last season Garry Tharrington was often injured, but never out. Pain rarely kept him on the sidelines long. Depressingly, it appears grades will.

The Bionic End is out for 2008.

Coach Jerry Moore said yesterday that Tharrington has been declared academically ineligible for the 2008 season.

“I hope that Gary learns from this and becomes a better man because of it,” Moore said. “I personally think that he will. He has been a great contributor to our program and . . . → Read More: This is gonna hurt

Newest Eagle comes looking for a good time

The upcoming season of SoCon football already promises to showcase an excellent class of quarterbacks – App State’s Armanti Edwards, Elon’s Scott Riddle and The Citadel’s Bart “Bart!” Blanchard. (Seriously, those are three good QBs).

How will SoCon foes compete? The traditional way – by going shopping! Of course!

Georgia Southern and Lil’ Sammy recently announced they’ve signed prospective leaders, and both come from I-A FBS.
