From Sunday’s Charlotte paper – “Discussions are underway to move next year’s Southern Conference Basketball Tournament to Charlotte.” Just think! A neutral site to crown a league champion! Or, at least, neutral … for now. /pleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease

Get it? Buzz? … /giggles … Ain’t we genius!
With the rumor mill in full twirl, we thought it educational to briefly look back at the career of Michael Jordan’s roommate. We have no idea if he is the “leading/potential/ possibly/maybe/kindof” candidate for the App State bball job. But we do think his tenure at App State has approached mythical status.
Was he a decent coach? Yes. Was App State some kind of sleeping Gonzaga under his tutelage? No. . . . → Read More: What’s all the Buzz about?

Happy Jerry Moore Day! It comes right after that day of fools.
Sketching the impossible. You keep dreaming, dude.
McDuffy feelin’ the safety position. Get that knee well soon.
More spring practice news. Look who’s filling in for Banks .. for now.
Pirates better beware 2001. You best just worry about 2009.
White knight. You know you want one.
Meet David Towarnicky. He’s on the baseball team.
Meet Wes Timmons. From App State to the minors, it’s a long . . . → Read More: APP-propre links

News from the Stink – “Georgia Southern men’s basketball coach Jeff Price has quit after the Eagles went 8-22 this season. Price had a record of 165-133 during his 10 years.” The Eagles were in the NIT just a couple seasons ago.

MTV. Spring Break. Contest. Bikinis. ‘Nuff said.
Anyone who can jump rope on their bum (bum rope?) should have won buns down. But third place ain’t bad.
As of yet, no reports of rioting at UMass.

We really hate promoting “news” without a link, but this vibe keeps getting stronger. Based on what we’re hearing, the selection of a “new” bball coach is already a done deal, and has been for awhile. We just want to go on record as saying 1. yes, we’ve heard the rumor and, 2. it would not surprise us.
MORE FUEL TO THE SMOKE. In our email – “Despite reports within the last several days that a handful of potential . . . → Read More: We're really not sure how we feel about this

Yes, there was a NFL Pro Day at App State. No, it was not well attended. And no, this isn’t really a surprise. “The Carolina Panthers were the only team on hand to watch 18 players — 10 from Appalachian State — work out outdoors on FieldTurf.” The report says Courman looked good.

Elon has a coach – “Matt Matheny, a member of the Davidson’s men’s basketball coaching staff for the past 16 years, was named Elon’s 17th head men’s basketball coach on Sunday.” Oh, and look where The Curry Show spinoff is going. /sighs .. RIP, “potential” App State candidates.

Knives have been drawn over the role of athlete “advising” at App State (Gonna be one looooonnnngggg offseason).
We thought it’d be worthwhile to see exactly what the university itself says about it. Keeping in mind that, depending on your perspective, reality may not always fit description.
First up, exactly what kind of advising is there for sports folk coming in as freshmen?
All freshmen are assigned an academic advisor (based on their learning community) to assist them with . . . → Read More: Be advised on what advisors advise

Yesterday Appfan Andrew posted one heckuva smooch for current VMI head coach Duggar Baucom. THAT’S the man Andrew wants in Boone.
So consider this post an open thread. Throw out a coach you’d like to see roaming Jones Arena. Maybe not that exact coach, but one who’s history suggests he’d look good in gold and black.
We ain’t takin’ any sides. But we will say Duggar is the “type” of coach we’d love to see come here. SI had . . . → Read More: Any other coach crushes out there?

The latest from the Fellowship of the Coach. The process to find a new bball leader will be “quick,” yet “exhaustive.” Short but long. Deliberative yet spontaneous!
You get the idea.
Cobb said that the committee has identified ideal characteristics in the type of coach it wants.
“The profile for the type of coach we’re looking for is one that can energize the program,” Cobb said. “We’d like to have someone who has solid experience in this region. Recruiting . . . → Read More: Set your calendars accordingly

Live at The Rock. We wish it was fall.
Double dose of I-AA suddenly cool. More than 70 I-As already playing at least one next season.
Who will run for the Pirates. Arrrrrgh.
There’s a new top Dog in town. Dukes lookin’ to break in in a new QB.
Ready for spring. Short sleeves now back in.
No betting in Delaware. Or no postseason games.
Older Curry may be leavin’ Davidson. We could see it.
Younger Curry leavin’ Liberty. . . . → Read More: APP-propre links
