Beware the late season fury of App State baseball

Need to keep on movin upPollard’s Pounders won for the 12th straight time in Boone yesterday, sweeping a series with Wofford and building a nice stockpile of confidence heading into the final month of the season.

Appalachian (26-17, 13-12 SoCon) won for the 13th time in 14 games overall and stretched its home winning streak to 12. Since opening the season at 6-14 and 1-9 in SoCon play, ASU has won 20-of-23 overall and 12-of-15 in conference action.

Appalachian looks to build on its 12-game home winning streak this week when it hosts three non-conference games at Smith Stadium, beginning with Tuesday’s 7 p.m. matchup versus Radford.

The top eight teams in the SoCon standings all get invites to the league postseason. As of today’s App State owns 7th place, so it should be a lock. One league series remains, against the cellar dweller UNC Greensboro (no pressure!).

App State has plenty of non-league competition remaining until the SoCon baseball tourney in late May (May 12 at NC State!). So now’s the time for some severe Sping Fever! Catch it while you can!

Thank you to the ASU baseball team for provided us with some good news during this otherwise embarassing period in ASU athletics.

ALSO….Congrats to the Women's Track Team for winning the 2009 SoCon Outdoor Championship.

While the leadership in our athletic dept. makes us question their direction…OUR ATHLETES CONTINUE TO MAKE US PROUD.
