I agree DRM!! My wife and I were screaming that every time he took off running Saturday.

YES DRM/Jeremy! When I watched him at fanfest I said I want to see him throw and TUCK THE BALL!!! It scares me.

Did anybody catch his post game interview. He gave a totally different meaning to the English language. The PR folks need to work with this kid. I had 5 different people call me and ask me who that was talking. "ye man, ya know dey got lucky man, we wurkd haad man. we uh team man, you can break one pencil but not a hundred man" I hope this kid is smarter than he sounds or he'll be academically ineligble.

It isn't just a matter of tucking the ball. The position coaches need to work with him on switching hands with the ball so he is using his body to protect it. Too many times during the ECU game, Cadet went right and kept the ball on his left side.

Good Lord you people hilarious! Can our players do anything right? He leads us to a near upset in the 4th qtr and all you can say is "tuck the ball!" Unreal.

And Grudensucks, I listened to that interview and heard a very excited young man who was ecstatic to be playing for App State. That kind of enthusiasm is what we're after. Give him a break already! Good grief.

I don't care if he can't speak a word of English (well – maybe a little).

Let's be fair on this – AE isn't exactly the most articulate person around but it doesn't accurately represent his intelligence level at all.

I also doubt Cadet has spent a lot of time being interviewed lately and it is something that takes getting used to.

    September 8, 2009 at 10:57 am

Yeah but AE is a little more humble when speaking. And btw, you learn tucking the ball away and and carrying it on the side your running in pee-wee ball. Fundamentals.

I loved his postgame interview (yes we need someone working with him on interviewing skills, but) The young man gave his all for Appalachian. He has been around the football block with a few stops before us. It was nice to see him excited and a part of the team. I have reservations about aspects of his game, but Cadet met the challenge Saturday. Great job!!

  13. Jamey

    September 8, 2009 at 11:31 am

They will undoubtedly work with him on ball positioning, and possibly even grammar.

But what we need to be focused on is the raw talent that was shown Saturday. I wish Satterfield was here to help in shaping this kids ability into the playmaker that he obviously has the potential to be. With AE and Cadet on the same roster…we have just elevated our program by leaps and bounds.

Why NOT to play App State came out today!

In the preseason AP Top 25 ECU was not ranked but received 30 pts. In today's poll they dropped to 6 pts. In the Coaches poll thay dropped from 3 pts. to 0 pts. The penalty for not being able to beat an FCS school at home by more than 5pts. Even though we all know App is not a typical FCS school. I hate this happened to ECU because it gives them no incentive to schedule us again.

The Winston Salem Journal quotes Coach Moore saying Armanti will play and probably start this weekend against McNeese.

    September 8, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Why are we so shallow at the kick return and punt return spots. Why were we using Cadet?

  19. Dan

    September 8, 2009 at 12:39 pm

Because you try to get your playmakers on the field whenever possible.

  20. grudensucks

    September 8, 2009 at 12:45 pm

But if he's a playmaker, like we did see in the second half then do we want to possibly get him injured in this position. Didn't CoCo return for us last year? What about one of the RB's? I don't think we can use him there anymore if he's going to be our 2nd QB.

Can't wait for the first home game in the remodeled stadium. Hopefully I can get to a urinal easier now. Glad I'm not a woman and have to wait in one of those lines. They said there are enough restroom space to go around now. I'm pumped, Saturday can't get here soon enough.

  21. DRM

    September 8, 2009 at 1:11 pm

I think someone (David Jackson, maybe, or maybe I read it on here) said Coach Moore says the absolute best returner we have is actually Presley. Coco is too indecisive, too (seemingly) afraid to take a hit. He actually returned a couple Saturday, and didn't do any better than last year.

    September 8, 2009 at 2:14 pm

I think Cadet has the ability of being better than AE over time. First off, his physical size is more dominant and he runs very well. If he works on his passing accuracy, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Secondly, did you see how he even got the defense fired up? I bet he has better overall leadership skills than AE does, which is one thing I believe AE lacks (no offense).

Keep in mind, Presley and Cadet more than Pat White and West Virginia could do…post more than three points. They should be proud of that.

Finally, let's keep in mind that Presley has been very valuable to the team. I just hope we can utilize him in another position.

I think that we proved that we can compete with the best of the CONF USA teams. Like I've said before, let's stop playing "down" and realize our true potential by going IA (FBS). I bet we'll hear an announcement about moving up within the next year.

  24. stay in FCS

    September 8, 2009 at 3:09 pm

I think anybody that is trying to move to FBS without fitting into the BCS is crazy. I love where were at and I don't ever want to move to a sorry C-usa or Sunbelt. We actually play for something. Better to be a big fish in a small pond.

  25. Ry_ATO

    September 8, 2009 at 6:01 pm

I was hoping that we wouldnt talk about moving to FBS for a while and we could concentrate on winning another NC. I hate to tell all the pro moving to FBS app fans but the only options for us if we move up would be the Sunbelt and becoming an independent. So both would really suck since I dont think I could get excited about play Arkansas State, Florida International or Louisana-Monroe and we aren't Army, Navy or Notre Dame. We have good rivalries in the SoCon. I think fans especially the new ones or the ones that just started paying attention are used to beating our rivals. Someday we might be in there position and they might beat up on us.

National Champ sounds better than SunBelt Champ and I don't think NBC will be giving us a TV contract anytime soon so we are fine where we are.

ENJOY IT WHILE IT LAST!!!! Ask the folks in South Bend it don't last for ever. I just hope in the post Jerry Moore era we don't get a new coach every 3 to 4 years.

Just in case no one knows. I think NCAA maded an announcement in 2007. The announcement was that no more I-AA will be aloud to go IA until 2013.

Future Division IA teams. Southern Alabama already has plans to be in the Sun Belt by 2013. They won there first official game this past weekend. I have not herd an official word on what UNC-Charlotte plans to do. I think they should in I-AA and join the Southern Conference. I have read that UNC-Charlotte does want to be part of major college football. I would not expect more than 3 teams to go IA in 2013.

Cadet is awesome, but he is not Armanti. Armonti is king and will always be king until someone else wins two titles, 3 socon championships, beats Michigan, and wins Walter Payton.

    September 9, 2009 at 4:07 am

I think UNCC in the SoCon if they are competitive would be awesome. It would almost be an instant rivalry.

    September 9, 2009 at 4:07 am

Keep Cadet on punts. That was the most badass thing I've seen in a long time to return punts and play QB on the same drive. They couldn't touch him.

    September 9, 2009 at 5:15 am

We should save the FBS talk for the offseason, but since it has started again…If we move up, we should do it with a group of other schools and create our on conference. There have been rumors in the past of an East Coast Conference with teams like Delaware, JMU, Nova, Hew Hampshire, Appalachain and Georgia Southern making there on conference and moving up. The conference would be far better than the Sun Belt and on par with C-USA. If Charlotte came to the SoCon, they would be looking to move up as quickly as they could get there program established.

    September 9, 2009 at 5:27 am

i agree. Let's table FBS until January so we have something to talk about other than Buzz Ball. 1-AA is going to be awesome this year.

McNeese State only beat Henderson State (whomever that is) by 3 points last week. Makes me wonder if they were overlooking the first game and practicing for us. With all of the emotion we put into the ECU game and McNeese not being a bad team…I'm worried Saturday may be closer than any of us want.

  36. mtdrago

If AE is truely health and we plan defense. We should beat McNeese by at least 3 touchdowns.

I guess you have to bring you A game when you go up against the Reddies of Henderson State from Arkidelphia, Arkansas.

    September 9, 2009 at 8:19 am

McNeese fans were a little embarrased Saturday.
Seems their team was beat up before the game, plus had illness issues with other players. They gave up a ton of passing yards, which seemed to be a surprise. They wanted to know more about the tailgating in Boone than APPs Team. They were guessing APP was 2 TD's better at game time Saturday.

    September 9, 2009 at 9:27 am

About two TDs was the Sagarin margin, too, before the three-point home-field advantage.
