Moore like it

BulldozerThe man is making a difference – “We think if we’d have had Devon last year, we would have had a lot different football team.” Bonus detail in this story. All these months later, and App State coaches still obsess over the Richmond playoff game last year. We had no idea they were sadists.

Hopefully they will continue to obsess over both Richmond and McNeese.

I think that discussion of Welton and Radford should be banned along with FBS.
They would have riden the bench last year if Moore was healthy just like they are going to ride the bench this year because Moore is healthy. End of story

Radford is a good running back…'specially catching out the backfield. I would love to see more of him, but obviously the coaches think Devon and Ced are better!

They aren't bad players and can definitely contribute. But, there are better players on the team at that position, and they are proving it.

Not going to punch my computer.

if you could keep 2 (any 2) out of these 4 players….who would you keep….
Blake Elder, Matt Kline, Devin Radford, Robert Welton..
have yall noticed we throw kline in the backfield a decent amount now?

i think welton and radford are stars on most other fcs squads…just so happens it app st. you know? welton will get some touches next year..

Matt Cline has been the man on 3rd down. The kid has got hands of glue.

Clayton- why is it that you demand that others "stop talking about___" when you have nothing interesting to say yourself.

This is a blog. It's basically about talking junk. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ok people – one more time:

Radford's injury last year caused some issues that led a member of the coaching staff to say "I don't think he will ever be the same."

    D. Moore has rebounded from his injury amazingly and looks better than ever – that being said there is no way that a pre-injured Devon Radford, an ACC transfer with 4.3 speed, would be sitting on our bench seeing zero playing time if he was 100% healthy. I'm not saying he should be the starting RB over Moore just saying we'd be using him in a utility position at the very least if he was able to contribute on the level he played pre-injury.

Robert Welton had a significant shoulder injury last season – he wasn't even dressed at the fall scrimmage I watched. Shoulders can take a long time to heal and if you have a stable full of other backs you don't have to rush the healing process like many coaches tend to do.

Although I haven't spoken to the coaches about Welton specifically my presumption is that he is getting back to 100% slowly and he could be a red-shirt candidate if we get through the season without losing other RB's to injury.

We are really fortunate to have such quality depth at RB.

What do you guys think of the RB coach which of course is Jerry's son? I've heard he's an odd one for a coach. However the RB stats that are under his tutelage are impressive. So I was curious as my info is legit yet the stats prove possibly some good coaching.

Parking lot, no question in my mind–of those four, Cline is first to keep and play.

I think Elder is second because of where Radford and Welton are on in the depth chart

DRM is right, there is no question that Cline is the most valuable of those 4. After that, I'd take an RB, probably Welton, mainly for insurance.

Gruden, I've never been a fan of working with your family but, you can't argue against the production of Richardson and now D. Moore.

You're right Clayton can't argue the numbers, that's why when an inside person told me that, I was kind of taken back. They know something we don't. With that many kids in the depth, it's easy to find things to question.

Can Welton take two redshirts? Didn't he get a medical redshirt last year? Can he take another one?

I don't know the rules, so please help!

    October 2, 2009 at 10:12 am

you can have one medical and one "you just kind of suck" redshirt year

  23. clayton

    October 2, 2009 at 11:13 am

Welton couldn't have redshirted last year.
