In other weekend news – Stink, Elon, Sammy win

Beware the NoogaThe Stink beat Wooford to continue its “win every other week” habit. Terriers get a weekend off to prepare for App State. Also, Lil Sammy kicked the ‘Whee and Elon won a close one against Furple. And the team in Chapel Hill lost at home badly to a William & Mary victim. We guess $2M a year only gets you so much.

Could Carolina be any more of an underachieving team? Insert…we are a basketball school here.

haha nice one Midwest! I hate Carolina so much and I hope the losing continues. Black and Gold forever!

The talent they have, the NFL coaches, the money, the fans, the facilities, and they look pathetic. We think we have it bad, damn. Getting waxed by UVA was embarrassing.

Carolina, College Basketball season is only 36 days away. I hope GA Southern tear the Tarheels apart.

    Let see here:

    William & Mary beat UVA
    UVA beats UNC.
App St beats W&M in 2009 FCS playoffs

Therefore, App St is better than UNC.

    2 Villanova (20) 5-0
    3 UNI (10) 4-1
    4 Montana 4-0
    5 New Hampshire (3) 4-0
    6 Southern Illinois 3-1
    7 William & Mary 4-1
    8 McNesse St 3-1
    9 Appalachian State 2-2
    10 Elon 4-1
    11 Central Arkansas 3-1
    12 Umass 3-1
    13 Eastern Washington 4-1
    14 Eastern Kentucky 3-1
    15 Cal Poly 2-2
    16 Jacksonville St 3-2
    17 JMU 2-2
    18 South Carolina St 3-1
    19 South Dakota St 3-1
    20 Holy Cross 4-0
    21 Florida A&M 4-0
    22 Montana St 3-1
    23 Weber St 2-3
    24 Colegate 5-0
    25 Delaware 3-2

This week was not easy. Things changed from last week.

Richmond practices as there next opponent is JMU, the last team they losed to. Current Win streak 14 in a row. Hey, JMU we beat Hofstra 47-0.

Villanova wins a big game against W&M. They will gains some first place votes. Next up at New Hampshire. This should be a great CAA matchup.

UNI takes Indiana States lossing streak to 32 and 55 out of their last 56. Next up North Dakota St.

New Hampshire destroys, kills, creams Towson 57-7. Well this could have been worst as all points were scored in the first three quarters. Next up, Villanova comes to Concord, New Hampshire.

W&M shows that they are not the top team in the CAA, but only drops to 7. Next up, Northeastern should be a lot easier.

App St, well at least we won, 30-27 OT. Wait who did App St beat … Citadel. Citadel, What Citadel. God, the D better get better or else. Somehow we moved up to 9.

Elon – Scott Riddle he's are man. Go Scott Riddle.
Scott Riddle 1579 yards already this year.
Scott Riddle for the Walter Payton Award.
Wait…who did they play to begin the
    season Davidson and Presbyterian.
Elon – hey mtdrago we won an important
    mtdrago – Wait a minute…….
Elon – Yep, we beat Furman
    mtdrago – Furman, Furman, Furman……..
    Elon – Thats right FURMAN!!!!!!!
mtdrago – Furman was not even ranked.
Elon – I did not notice.
mtdrago – Can't wait to see how you blow it
    this year.
mtdrago – Go Bulldogs, beats the Phoenix.

Eastern Washington can't stand the fact that they can not go the playoffs

Cal Poly beats South Dakota St and gives hope to a team that would come from an At-large Conference. Next up a very important game at Montana.

Jacksonville St wins big over TN-Martin, but remebers they are suspended from the playoffs.

JMU's season may be on the line as their next up is against Richmond. The loss to Hofstra really kills them. Will they be the six CAA to make the playoffs. Six CAA teams, NO Please, not six. Yes, it can happen.

South Carolina State plays good first half against their state rival South Carolina, but loses 38-14. Why was this game on ESPN Classic. It's not a CLASSIC.

Montana State says we are going to make a run at the playoffs.

Weber St season is now offically on the line.

Delaware enters the Top 25. First time in over a year. If JMU falls out they will be replaced by the new sixth CAA team Delaware.

Wofford loses again and knows that there is always next year.

Western Carolina knows they will never have a team and should FOLD for the season.

UNI is the best team in FCS, hands down.

    6. Colegate 5-0

    13. Western Carolina 0-5

Maybe Yes, but they will have to beat Richmond to prove it.

  9. mtdrago

    October 4, 2009 at 6:46 pm

    Playoff picture:

    E. Kentucky at Richmond
    JMU at McNesse St
    Elon at New Hampshire
    Cal Poly at Montana
    Colegate at Villanova
    App St at W&M
    UMass at S. Illinois
    Florida A&M at UNI

Wait, is this the FCS playoff or is this The CAA vs the rest of the FCS playoffs. Yes, CAA six teams. No, Not six. App St is now in a different braket and can not play Richmond, should we be happy or not. Upsets in first round…. App St and UMass. Elon gets killed, destroyed, creamed by the better team New Hampshire. Elon can not win. CAA gets three teams to the final four: Richomd, New Hampshire, Villanova. The other is UNI of course. Villanova beats App St in second round. Richmond plays UNI in finals. Richmond wins a close game 24-21 and repeats as National Champions.

  11. Michael

    October 4, 2009 at 7:42 pm

you're right, parking lot. the caa playoff teams were maine, new hampshire, richmond, jmu, & villanova. i believe w&m missed w/ a 7-4 record.

  12. mtdrago

    October 4, 2009 at 7:54 pm

    Parking Lot

Why would William and Mary not participate in FCS playoffs. They are in The CAA.

Wait Parking Lot you are wrong.

    1. W&M losing in Semifinals 2004 to JMU
    2. W&M loses to App St in 2001 in first round. Yes, App St has played this team before.
    3. W&M loses to Northern Iowa in 1996 in second round.
    4. W&M loses to McNesse St in 1993 in first round
    5. W&M loses to C. Florida in 1990 in second round
    6. W&M loses to Furman in 1989 in first round
    7. W&M loses to Delaware in 1986 in first round

William & Mary was in the Southern Conference until 1976. However, that have only played App St three times, App St leads 2-1.

    Parking Lot,
I did not mean to destroy you like this, but I had to look it up. This is sad, you should really check your facts. SEVEN TIMES.

I do not know what this is, but heres go

in 1988, 1992, William & Mary played in the
    ESPON IVY Bowl.
    1992 – Nihon Univerity,Japan 19 W&M 35
    1988 – Japan All-Stars 3 W&M 73

This was a bowl game between an America team and a Japan Team.

Wait…. Japan plays football, Since when?????????

come on now guys, leave mtdrago alone. who cares who beat who that beat who. the point of the matter is that we have to step it up on both sides of the ball, mainly the d. before we do that, lets leave the whole playoff thing on the back burner. if our secondary plays Elon or FU like that, we will be eaten alive. The offensive play calling has been driving me nuts. its so plane and predictable. imo, it looks like we are saving out plays until later conference games?? or the new oc is trying not to lose his job.

the fact of the matter is….we need to step it up and play some app football!!!

    Go APPS!!!!!

  27. Dan

    October 5, 2009 at 6:39 am

I have faith that we will rise to the occassion when necessary. Whether that is done in the current alignment or whether play calling duties shift (offense) and starters are benched (defense) remains to be seen.

    October 5, 2009 at 6:40 am

Back to the football . . .I was at the game Saturday, and unfortunately had to sit in the Citadel section, because the Visitor side was "sold-out" which was crap because of the hundreds of empty seats. Anyway, I got to sit and listen to Citadel alums talk about the massive amount of homecooking those guys were getting; 3 massive holding penalties on whoever was trying to stop our d-end (that could have stopped Citadel drives), favorable spots, etc. The D was not great, but it was playing against the refs at times as well. No excuses, but when the citadel fans behind you can say, "I hate to say it against my guys in blue, but we are getting some major home cooking on the non-calls" then you know it's bad.

  29. AppOrange

    October 5, 2009 at 6:49 am

Also, I saw in earlier posts someone ask if we could beat NCCU, and then more posts about getting a 40 point win to soothe everyone. We will get both a win and a 40+ victory this weekend; Armanti will have some stats that will start catching him back up in the Payton watch. That's the good news; the bad news is that becasue of this weekend, we will start thinkning our you know what does not stink and we could be looking at another poor effort. With all the issues, to me, I think we would all be happy to see good consitent play for 4 quarters!

Typically, the numbers in (parenthesis) in a Top 25 poll indicate how many first place votes a team gets.

mtdrago are you really voting 146 times in your own poll?

    Please enlighten us.

  32. Dominick

    October 5, 2009 at 7:39 am

Will, I'm with you. They should try and put them up for each game, or at the very least each away game that doesn't have TV coverage.

  33. Joe

    October 5, 2009 at 7:41 am

I have a feeling mtdrago is simply pulling from a popular poll — either AGS or TSN..

    Great Highlights!

  35. Dominick

    October 5, 2009 at 10:56 am

How to keep mtdrago occupied. Tell him to create a poll where he votes for a team 113 times…then tell him to figure out the rest of his top 25….then see if he can correctly pick the playoffs (over and over again) each week of the season!

  36. Dominick

    October 5, 2009 at 10:58 am

…and if that doesn't work you can always send him back to grammar school…he might never understand it though…

"How do you keep a idiot occupied?"-mtdrago

Dom, in case you haven't noticed from most of the posts on this board, grammar is optional.

    Discouraged, even.

  39. Joe

    October 5, 2009 at 11:18 am

Grammar may be optional, but at least people can comprehend your posts (most of the time)..

Glad to see I am not the only one that thinks Drago needs one of those "cubicle training" students (Right Naysayer?) to create a more robust grammar/spell check

  40. Keith

    October 5, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Please! I've enjoyed this blog so much more the last few days without Naysayer. I'll take Drago over Naysayer anyday.

    October 5, 2009 at 2:43 pm

I would appreciate if we all use our own names. I did not write the comment at 3:15 pm.

I am predicting the TOP 25 for the TSN Poll. No I am not voting 113 times, I am just predicting the first place votes for each team.
I know my gammer is now very good, but I have since plenty of misspelling and misused grammer through out this blog site.

Just an idea to throw out there:
If Moore retires soon (within 2-3 seasons), you think App brings Satterfield back as HC?

  45. DRM

    October 6, 2009 at 6:37 am

Do you think App CAN bring him back? Choices (for Satterfield): more money, more exposure, bigger programs, versus coaching at his alma mater and (if we're still FCS) playing for championships. Regardless of which division we're in when JM retires, I would hope Satterfield would opt for App (and that we'd be smart enough to make the offer), but who knows?

  46. Michael

    October 6, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Does Coach Moore WANT to retire in the next few years? If not, we can't expect Satterfield to wait and wait.

  47. ggergg30

    October 7, 2009 at 4:49 am

I personally don't see Jerry Moore packing it in anytime soon. I think he has his dream job, not just as a HC but also as a mentor. He is a devoutly religious man, and his current position gives him the perfect podium from which to assist in molding young mens lives, a few of whom will play at the next level but the majority of which will enter society like the rest of us, seeking a job with which to provide for their families. I would not be surprised to see JM as our HC for another 7 or 8 years. Just my opinion, of course.

  48. DRM

Which do we we think we'll have first–a new AD, or a new HFC?
