Boone makes a bang

We’ve never heard of The Big Bang Theory, a show on CBS. Last night it name dropped Boone. “Wrong crowd”? Us? /bats eyelashes, looks innocent

Since we’re talking name dropping, anyone seen this?

Heard the Goodbye Solo movie was very good and it was shown at the Dragonfly movie theater here in Boone this past summer.

I tweeted about it last night. The writers on that show probably are just so impressed with the awesomeness of Boone that they wanted to give us a shout out. I did think it was weird though… especially the fact that they talked about Horn In The West but didn't call it by it's name..

Sheldon likes trains, would a trip to Tweetsie be out of the question?

I remember a sitcom back in the 80's called Too Close for Comfort. The lead character on that show, played by the late Ted Knight, used to wear sweatshirts of various colleges from all around the country. It got to where college students would send him sweatshirts in hopes he would wear one featuring their school on an episode. Someone from ASU must have gotten lucky because there's one episode of Too Close for Comfort where Ted Knight wears an Appalachian State sweatshirt.

Sheldon eventually moves (or tries to move) to Montana. Wonder if the writers had watched the ASU-Montana game?

its an excellent movie I highly reccomend it

the fact that you can recognize every location in the movie just makes it that much better

I sure wish Armanti would get a late invite to the East West Game or even better…the Senior Bowl.

Bob, Armanti did receive invites to both of those.. as well as the Texas vs. Nation game — he declined them all to rehab his injuries and prepare for the combine

I worked as an extra in Goodbye Solo. It was great meeting the director, staff and the stars. It is an experience that will live with me forever. My name even made the credits. Please rent it and enjoy.

Another subject I am the PR person for Horn in the West and am tickled pink that a great series such as Big Bang Theory referenced us and Boone!

I'm still wondering just how much time our supposed namesake actually spent in Boone. Pennsylvania? Yes. He was a Quaker. Iredell County? Yes. Kentucky? Yes. But just how many years was he in Boone or Meat Camp?

Hey Virginia, I used to manage the Gift Shop in the early 80s. If Hamilton or Winkler are still around, tell them Kempton said hey.

Naysayer, all I have ever heard is that he camped here while on hunting trips. I recently finished reading the "new definitive" biography of him (can't remember the author, but got it at the public Library), and it only briefly mentioned the high country.

Loved 'Goodby Solo' Watched it via Netflix on demand and I gave it 4 of 5 stars.

The actor that plays Solo really explored the emotions of the character and turned in one of the best performances I saw in 2009. I felt a strong empathy for him after the first 20 minutes of the film.

While the movie makes Winston seem depressing as all get out, the scenes shot in BR are foggy, surreal, and gave me chillbumps.

Daniel Boone went wherever he damn well pleased, and he never stayed in ANY one place all that long.

And it seems to me that Big Bang is the kind of show that attracts the wrong crowd.

Boone preserved on film forever in a way which it never has been. We all know the postcards, and we've seen the fall colors – but in such a way, wow. I saw it in theater, and to see it on the big screen was amazing!
