Try not to yell too loud upon viewing this

Stolen from FanFeedr, which has much larger version, and this.

Manwhile, Cat Scratch Reader is alllll over some AE.

Brief mini-camp report for today – AE caught some passes, returned some kicks and wrote his name alot.

And yes, they’re out (via Appfan Katie).

COMMENTS AT MINICAMP. He EXPECTS to have an impact.

Of course, bigger is better.

The first fitting

Given how excited we got over this 12 seconds of nothing …. our hearts may just explode once he walks on the field.

ALL EYES ON AE. No doubt.

There figures to be a huge buzz surrounding Edwards, the former Appalachian State superstar who’ll be one of the most-watched players in camp as he begins his switch from quarterback to receiver/kick returner.

Edwards also figures to be the new player most likely to have teammates, coaches and other . . . → Read More: The first fitting

It was a dark and stormy schedule

Bigger and better.

128 days ….

FCS attendance continues to yo-yo

Let’s play with numbers.

Recently the NCAA released 2009 attendance figures for all levels of collegiate foozball. It should be no surprise that, given the Bush Obama Goldman Sachs economy, there was a slight dropoff compared to the previous season.

How big a dropoff? Well, the average crowd at a I-A FBS game was 691 people smaller than the previous year. I-AA FCS had a slightly better retention rate, losing just 169.

Not bad. Not bad at all, . . . → Read More: FCS attendance continues to yo-yo

Our favorite headline – App State beats Wake Forest

31st win – “Matt Andress tied App State’s career wins record and became the program’s all-time strikeouts leader in the Mountaineers’ 10-5 victory over Wake Forest.” App State goes to 20-0 as “the nation’s only NCAA DI club with an undefeated record versus non-conference competition.”

El Cid goes right to lefty

App State got a younger Capel. The Citadel saw that bet, and raised a Driesell – “Chuck Driesell toddled to practice when Lefty coached at Davidson, served as a ballboy and played for his dad at Maryland, and coached under him for nine years at James Madison.” Last year he was on the Maryland staff.

MEANWHILE DOWN AT THE FUNNY FARM. Some writer argues that current Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel reallyreallyreally shoulda taken that vacant job at …… well, . . . → Read More: El Cid goes right to lefty

Your obligatory "vote for David" post

After enjoying an early +20 percent of the vote, App State first baseman David Towarnicky has lost a few percentage points in the online voting for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS award. Some guy from UC Irvine is building steam. As of this post, it’s Towarnicky leading at 18.2%. Come on Apps, PAD THAT LEAD! PAD THAT LEAD!

App State bball recruit wants to review options

FYI – “Jonathan Frye said that he was granted a release from his commitment yesterday. Frye said he has not ruled out Appalachian.” But it just so happens he knows the new staff of a certain beach-bound school east. Hmmmm … Meanwhile, recruit Anthony Thomas “has yet to make a decision.”

Talk is cheap, and in his case, even cheaper

We do not care for the blatherings of one specific so-called “draft expert,” who, when asked about the future prospects of a certain national champion Gator, “continued to question whether the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner can play quarterback in the NFL.” Sir, have you no shame? Any at all?

Cause that is how he rolls

Saturday was the first day of the rest of his life. And he acted like it – “Edwards wasted no time beginning his quest, driving to Bank of America Stadium well before the draft’s third day got under way at 10 a.m. EDT.” And man oh man does he look sharp! And yes, he will likely be a WR/PR/KR.

PANTHERS CONFIRM. AE is a perfect 10.

So how our other great QB doing

All the App world was buzzing over … /still giddy .. CAROLINA PANTHER ARMANTI EDWARDS Saturday.

But today we give a shoutout to THE Man! who came before him.

Yo, Richie! Holla!

Ask Williams which sport he’s pursuing now at age 27, and he’ll tell you it will be a while until he expects to hear the echo of football’s whistle again. The call to auto racing is loud and clear.

“The main thing I like about this instead . . . → Read More: So how our other great QB doing

App State moves on spot up

Pollard’s Pounders were in Alabama this weekend. So too was Mother Nature. And the latter was ornery.

So the three-game set was reduced to a partial Sunday doubleheader. Friday’s opener was called after five and continued yesterday.

Nonetheless, it was a good day for App State.

The Samford baseball team committed a combined 13 errors in two games as the Bulldogs were swept in their Southern Conference doubleheader against Appalachian State Sunday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field. Samford . . . → Read More: App State moves on spot up
