Open thread – Time for a rematch!

The ‘Whee knocked off .. /double take .. CofC in .. /triple take .. 12 innings yesterday to send the Cougars to the losers bracket, where they’ll meet App State at 3. The Mountaineers ended the Stink’s season 6-2. Three days ago CofC eeked out a 12-11 win over App in 11 innings. Game for a rematch?

This is the exact reaction we had, AFTER the game

Alvin Gentry’s Suns lost a toughie last night on a last second putback to go down 3-2 to the Lakers. And, well, Alvin, we know how you feel. Well, *did* feel – “”We’re not going to get discouraged. We’re not happy. We’re not jovial, but we’ll be OK,” Coach Gentry joked.”

Elon lives up to its old nickname

LET’S GET READY TO PLAY BALL!!! – “It might have ended with just some harsh words between catcher and runner, if Elon’s Scott Riddle—who is also the starting QB on the football team—hadn’t charged into the fray to mix it up. Then chaos reigned.” Police had to help break it up.

EXIT QUESTION. If you wanted to get in a fight with a SoCon team, would you really want it to be the military . . . → Read More: Elon lives up to its old nickname

App State vs CofC at 9. Says Tyler Jackson – “”We didn’t pick the best time to go into a slump, but I think we’re out of it.” Good timing, cause this is the “”Deepest tournament I can ever remember,” said The Citadel coach Fred Jordan, in his 19th season.” Give ‘em hell!

So that's what a real student-athlete looks like

High five! – “David Towarnicky became the first App State student-athlete in 18 years to receive first-team Academic All-America recognition.” The last Mountaineer to do so? DJ Campbell. No surprise really, given Towarnicky’s two college choices. To celebrate, how ’bout a vote?

Guy who talks on tv talks about how FBS talk is crazy

FYI – “On Friday, Montana native and ABC and ESPN sports broadcaster Brent Musburger said such a move would be “economic suicide.”” He has a point. Promoting and organizing all that free labor indentured servitude brings major financial constraints.
