Judging from recent comments, people wanna do the ‘ol FCS/FBS cha-cha. Below is a post from last year, updated with a few new developments, regarding what, exactly, is needed for App State to make like The Jeffersons. Here’s a few ingredients to consider. Feel free to add more.
Money. Gobs and gobs of money. Coaching salaries. Travel. Payouts to attract teams to Boone. Recruiting. Support staff. All that – and then some – will come with higher price tags. . . . → Read More: Revisiting some facts and musings on the Great Debate

So we’re a soccer futbol crazed nation now. (Seriously, Nebraska?) Our National Heroes take on Ghana at 2:30. Exit question – is the current national hysteria how the rest of the non-App State world felt Sept. 1, 2007?
GHANA WINS 2-1. Guess everyone now knows how we felt Sept. 22, 2007.

A construction nightmare. “For years after completion of the job I half expected to hear of a collapse. I am thankful to God that it has stood up this long.” On the plus side, guh-reat who’s who list.
App State’s K king. “Andress’ final college start was likely his last ever, as the 6-foot-4 right-hander wasn’t selected in the MLB draft.” Dang it!
Meanwhile, another look at the draftees. Good luck guys.

Good news! Some sweet soul has uploaded the App State-UNC bball game from 1998 to the YouTubes! Bad news. Jerk was the coach, so there’s uh-lot of jerk references. uh-lot. (We threw up thrice just in the opening montage)

ESPN – “As anyone in any business will tell you, it’s very often who you know and who you’re connected with. Was I surprised I got this job? Sure. But our father always taught us to work every day and prepare ourselves so if opportunity knocks, we’re ready for it. I’m ready for this.” Pretty snazzy.

Pathetic or ingenious? – “The school is retroactively inflating its grades, tacking on 0.333 to every grade recorded in the last few years. The goal is to make its students look more attractive in a competitive job market.” At undergraduate schools, GPAs have “drifted northward over the years.”

Crowds good, traffic bad – “The task force proposes that ambassadors offer handouts to motorists with information about game day parking and the 2-hour time limits. The Town Hall parking lot (will) be maintained for hourly parking and not game day parking.”
