The Greatest App Ever and newest Carolina Panther will be at Scott’s Collectibles next Saturday.

Ya in ya out? Ya in ya out? Ya in ya out?

We will be having Armanti Edwards, 3rd Round Draft Pick of the Carolina Panthers in our store signing autographs on Saturday July 24th at 1 pm. Cost is $20 per item and personalizations or inscriptions are a $5 donation to a charity of Armanti’s choosing. Tickets go on sale Monday July 5th.

We will have plenty of App State and Panthers Items available including Photos, Posters, Helmets, Mini Helmets, Footballs and more. If you prepuchase your ticket you may reserve memorabilia at that time as well.

There will be an exclusive 5X7 Armanti Edwards 2010 Prestige Card available that day as a wrapper redemption for purchasing packs of 2010 Panini NFL trading cards.

There will also be door prizes and we plan to have a pack wars event at 5 PM with the grand prize being a Panini Black Box which includes 3 printing plates (2 of which are autographed) plus other low numbered cards.

    Count me in.

Oh, and I'm bringing my epic Sports Illustrated magazine from after we beat Michigan. Been wanting to get Armanti to sign that so I can frame it for some time now.

I had Dexter sign my SI and Armanti sign my Michigan ticket stub at mini camp a few weeks ago. For free.

BTW, Armanti's signature can use some work. But he was a nice kid…very respectful, humble, and appreciative.

I like Armanti but why would anyone ever pay for any persons autograph ?

  • appband

I'm glad I already have AE's autograph and pix with him because that's my son's wedding day! ;-)

  • Fleetwood App

Maybe he's happy with his signature law1ng2b. Congrats Appband and congrats to your son!

    Thanks, Fleetwood App!

appband I think I know who your talking about! I can't believe he's getting married, I'm really happy for them. We played intermurals together up at App our junior and senior years.

  • Well alright, Appband.

  • I'm heading over there this week too.. I don't mind going over there if the money is going to something important. Also, I'm trying to get him to come to Harvey's bar and Grill in Huntersville to do a signing and update. Got to find out how to get him up here.. Should be great for all the appstate fans we have on a regular basis, not to mention football!! thanks again everyone…

Lucked out and had a mutual friend get AE to sign a Panthers mini-helmet for me as a wedding anniversary present. MY WIFE ROCKS! Armanti even took it upon himself to have 9 or 10 other players sign the helmet as well. How awesome is that guy!

While I have paid for autographs in the past, the best are always the ones you get for free. The new reality of things is that anyone over 13 is going to be paying if they want something signed. If you have ever hung around and watched the autograph dealers manhandle kids to get to the athletes you would understand the new rules for adults and signatures in Baltimore and other towns.

  • Yeah great concept but I am not paying for any autograph, I played football and baseball at ASU from 92-96 so in my opinion the autographs should be free, with a portion going to charity, but $20 for an autograph give me a break, times are tough right now for alot of people and the only reason I would show-up is for the charity, anyway good luck AE and I hope he does well with the panthers he really deserves it!

  • HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS! $20 PER ITEM WOW SOMEBODY IS MAKING SOME MONEY!

  • appfantoo

Armanti makes all the money from the autographs – not the store owner.

AE's earned it as far as I'm concerned – people pay way more than $20 to go to concerts or other sporting events and usually don't get to meet their favorite singer/athlete.

For all the good times AE brought to me and to ASU it is the least I can do to slip him a 20-spot (and now it isn't an NCAA violation).

Just to clarify, the $20 paid the cost of running over $4 grand in ads in newspapers including Charlotte, Winston, Concord, Mooresville, Statesville, Lake Norman and Salisbury, Cost of printing posters, Tickets, etc. That doesn't even factor into account the costs of extra help or the fact that when you use a credit card the banks take about 3% of the transaction off the top.

While I understand not everyone wants to pay for an autograph there is VERY large cost associated with bringing in an athlete and advertising it. Thats not to mention that we compensated Armanti for his time, afterall it was his last weekend before camp starts, and I'm sure he would have loved some more time to spend with his family, etc but instead he was out signing autographs.

Trust me when I say that we didn't turn a profit off the event on ticket sales.

Hope that helps explain why there is a cost.

    So there you go.
