High bar – “The most-watched game in FCS history – nearly 2M households – was last year’s playoff semifinal between Montana and App State. In a week, Eastern Washington and Delaware meet in Frisco, Texas. And an hour later Texas A&M and LSU kick it off in the Cotton Bowl on Fox. So if you’re betting on the Nielsens this year, take the under.”

Dude ………
Worst. Quote. Ever.
/glares murderously at once-treasured John Fox Fathead
Ev. Er.
The fact that he’s not contributed at all this season blows Edwards’ mind.
When he was drafted in the third round Edwards figured he would contribute this season even though he was making a difficult transition from playing quarterback at Appalachian State to receiver/returner in the NFL. The fact that the Panthers gave up a second-round pick to get Edwards has only increased the scrutiny . . . → Read More: "Yeah, I lost confidence but I try not to show it"

Nathan Healy started his sophomore year having never scored more than 10 points in a college game.
The forward went for 13 against Mississippi State in the third game of the season. Then his game kinda disappeared.
Early reports suggest he found it … in Cancun.
Healy, a former star at New Bern High School, came up with the biggest scoring game of his college career at the Governor’s Cup tournament in Cancun. The 6-foot-10*, 210-pound forward scored a . . . → Read More: Now auditioning for the role of "4th scoring option"

The App State record for points in a career was set back in 1961.
The Mountaineer who did it was Don King. No, not that Don King.
J. “Don” King, who was good for 1,794 career points. Former App State coach Bob Light once called him, “the best basketball player I have coached in my 17 years at Appalachian.”
King’s almost 40-year-old record should drop to No. 2 all-time tonight, when the half-man/half-jump shot called Donald Sims takes the . . . → Read More: App State King may be dethroned tonight

Big-time – “This month presents Elliott’s first bowl experience. He said the only thing he could really compare it to is getting ready for the I-AA championship game, which App State won three times. “This is definitely a little more laidback because, in that instance, you have a championship you’re playing for.””

Last week a sports writer in Augusta and the president of a bowl game had a looonnggg but interesting debate regarding The Holy Gridiron Grail – a FBS playoff.
As a Christmas present, the entire conversation was transcribed. Almost every cliched argument for and against is raised, including comparing A to B.
But moooommmm … FCS gets to have a playoff! Why can’t I?

Second to last weekend in the regular season, and nuttin on the line in these two games. Sticks looking to sack a Texan today. Also looking to Be Prepared – “He’s followed the NFLPA advice about saving some paychecks, perhaps a bit too literally. He puts them in a safe.” Superman plays with the Seahawks. He’s solidified his spot in the starting lineup.
