The Cam Show remains at home against Jacksonville. San Fran travels to Cincinnati, Green Bay’s in Chicago, Denver’s in Tennessee and Tampa Bay entertains Atlanta. Sticks is expected to start for Denver, while AE continues to look for holes – “The Panthers really haven’t done much at all in the return game so far this season, although that’s largely a reflection of the team’s blocking rather than the play of the returners.”
AE in at WR on first drive. Smitty must have needed a breather…
Great 15-20 yard return to set up the go ahead TD!
Lynch is playing since the starter is injured. Just deflected a
4th and 3 pass at the 2 yard line. Huge play
Armanti did well today. Opponents are always kicking to the sidelines, or short and high when he is back there. But he did get a few shots today and made the most of them.
AE listed with one kick return for 4 yds, and 4 punt returns for 28 yds, long of 14.
Hunter = 3 solo tackles, 1 TFL
Lynch = 2 solo tackles, 1 pass defended
Lynch's PBU was great – tight coverage right on the goal line and got his hand in front of the receiver to break up the touchdown catch on 3rd down
So did AE get in on kick off return or was that on the safety return?
on the safety return.
Lynch's break up was huge. I"m not sure how serious the injury to the starting safety was, but he was carted off. Lynch could start next week.
wfnz is giving AE a hard time today. Saying they cut there losses and let him go. I'm i seeing something that no one else is seeing. He has no help. Every time he catches the ball it seems that he has no less than 3 people less than a yard away.
Indeed, absolutely no block on their returns. There are 4 guys waiting on him to catch it about every time. He made 3 guys miss to get that 14 yd return yesterday.
The return blocking has been pretty poor, and there have been blocking fouls on some of his returns as well. They're just not very good at it yet.
NFL teams don't care about the blocking. Its all about the superstar making plays. If you don't make plays you're gone. That is why quarterbacks and running backs get the glory not those that block.
The twitter feed on the side of Appfan had a lot of Panther fans dissing Armanti as well. Luckily the fans and sports radio hosts don't make the decisions.
AE did fine. Blocking sucked.
On the panther talk tonight here in Charlotte they asked coach Rivera about Armanti and the progress he is making. He mentioned that with the conditions yesterday Armanti did a good job catching a number of tough punts. Coach Rivera also was saying how pleased he was with the progress considering he had no help last year in getting coached. He mentioned he was looking forward to working him in the rotation more as the season progresses. Good remarks overall.
Jerry Richardson won't let them cut Armanti this year.
Rivera sees the clear picture that last year was a wasted year for Armanti. The coaches had no interest in trying to help a young man improve. It is a testament to the fact that John Fox is an undeniable prick who uses his players as pawns in his dealings with management. I bet that type of garbage won't work when John Elway orders him to play Tebow.
Armanti is showing vast improvement in a return game that is in need of some attention. Even the kickoff returns are not yielding the yards they were last season for Goodson. I seem to remember San Diego struggling on special teams last season, so perhaps Rivera has to field some of the blame. Regardless, the current coaching staff likes what they see out of #14 and I think his role will increase moving forward.
