The Citadel joins Penn State in the news

Dude ...... Whoa – “The Citadel’s President, Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa, said the school is “profoundly sorry” that it did not follow up on a 2002 case that involved suspected child predator Louis “Skip” ReVille. Two summer camp kids reportedly watched pornography with ReVille and engaged in sexual activities.” Also, brutal – “And God help us, let us not hear a single mumbling word about how football can help the university “heal.” (Lord, let the Alamo Bowl be an instrument of your peace.)”

Citadel football announced yesterday that their offense is lacking in the tight end position.

That's funny…making fun of child molestation. What are you guys/girls…21,22 years old? If so, it must be a generational thing. Pathetic.

As the father of a 10 year old son, it amazes me all the people who feel so sorry for Paterno or Penn State?? I would could never see a point in time where someone knowing my son was being mistreated and thinking that telling their superiors was adequate enough. I could care less about his winning, his longevity at Penn State, I could care less about football…..this is about a university failing to protect innocent children. I love ASU and will go to every game from now till my dying day…..BUT if this ever happens in our program, you can bet I would be the first one to say the heck with the program and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law….especially knowing people within the program knew it happened and covered it up. Championship trophies will tarnish, records will fall, stadiums will be torn down and rebuilt….but a life effected the way these children have been WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!

I'm sure none of them are two thousand, one hundred twenty two years old….

But seriously MS, any offense you take from these comments doesn't compare to the regular torture to which we are all subject in reading your idiotic comments on a daily basis. You are out of touch and you are a fool. Go up to the highest point of your moral high ground and jump off.

    Naysayer,

Like I said, these scandals happen at schools where "big time" football is not played.

In other news, check out the 2012 Obama voter. Just another quality Obama citizen contributing to society.

I'm 22, making that post the first correct thing you have ever said on this website. Actually no, hold on. We have yet to confirm the ages of the other two jokesters mentioned above. Perhaps this isn't your first valid post of all time. There's always next year big guy. How old are you sir? Clearly you did not go App before the admission standards spike of 2008.

My son went to App. I went to Cornell for my B.S. Pretty sure I would have been accepted to your school Gonzo. You probably thought I went to App. b/c I have embraced my son's school as one of my own.

I do not understand what that has to do with you being ok with child molestation and thinking it is funny. Keep deflecting.

    November 15, 2011 at 11:50 am

You equate making a joke to being ok with child molestation and I'm deflecting?

Anyway, upon some research, I realized that I was confusing you with Yosef82 for some reason. Disregard my comments about your previous posts and thank you for the support of your son's school.

I hold a very staunch anti-molestation view as I'm sure the other people making jokes do. That being said, humor about this sort of thing is common and only unacceptable in certain circles. How many Catholic priest jokes are out there? This is an anonymous App State sports forum. You must have some pretty thin skin if you were truly offended by those comments unless you were somehow touched by these specific situations (no pun intended).

Sorry for making another joke…. Loosen up and lets have a beer.

The fact that you are able to not only turn a computer on by yourself, but write full sentences is a credit to functionally mentally handicapped people everywhere. You sir, are an inspiration. If you could ever find time between your grocery bagging duties and picketing for coach Moore to be fired, I'd love to shake your hand and give you a lolly pop.

Oh and you don't have to include your IQ in your Appfan name….

I'm 60, male and white. Jokes about this are not funny. Neither are racial or ethnic jokes. As a parent and hopefully a grandparent I am sickened by all of this. However I do not hate Penn State, just the few people who failed in their legal and moral obligations. If it happened at APP i would not turn my back on the program. I wonder with all of the righteous indignation I'm hearing , how many of you are actually doing something about it?

The fact that this comment board has deteriorated into a pissing contest about who dumber is pretty sad. What should be discussed is how more and more we are finding that sick and twisted individuals are integrating themselves into athletic programs to gain access to young men and women. The more concerning part is that the higher-ups ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB AS LEADERS when these situations are brought to light.

I agree 100% with whoever said that if ANYTHING like this happened at ASU I would be the first to want anyone who knew and did nothing FIRED and run out of the Boone immediately. Take this opportunity to have an intelligent discussion or maybe move to another thread fellas.

If you can joke about this you are part of the problem. This is a very serious matter.

If you think that anyone in that program was not aware of what was going on you have never been part of a sports program. There are no secrets on a staff like that.

this has become an unmitigated disaster of a topic. you can pretty much sum this whole thing up with a paraphrase of Edmund Burke. I can't think of a better way to say it so here:

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing"

what a very appropriate statement. every one who knew should have taken care of this situation and the fact that not a single one did is very disturbing.

The most fitting quote I have seen in regards to this whole mess.

People often use humor to deal with issues with which they are uncomfortable. However, ideas of what is socially acceptable or proper are very much generational. People should at least be considerate of present company. Otherwise, clean house, and that goes for all the politicians who act as though they have all the answers or refuse to compromise to make achievments for our nation.

Failing to report this to Police is criminal no matter who the person is. Anyone who knew this was going on and did not report it to the Police is a dirty, rotten POS and any other name one could think of. That is putting it nicely.
