Don't Miss

“I wouldn’t pitch to him”

Records more hits than MadonnaPower.

Daniel Kassouf, who has a hit in all but one of Appalachian State’s past 17 games, entered Tuesday’s game against N.C A&T having swatted five home runs in a six-game stretch.

Kassouf, who leads the Southern Conference with a .420 batting average and ranks third in NCAA Division I with 10 home runs, isn’t a well-kept secret. But it’s a mystery why he continues to get enough good pitches to hit.

Kassouf, 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, isn’t a prototypical power hitter with his approach and high average, but he said he has always packed a punch with his swing.

“I can thank my mom (Maria) for that,” Kassouf said. “She feeds me pretty well. She still brings me a sandwich about every game.”

Pollard calls him “country strong.”
