App State took two of three from traditional SoCon power CofC. Not yet halfway through the league season, and the Mountaineers have already played the second (CofC) and third (Elon) place teams.

After a stop at Gardner-Webb, the team heads to the Stink this weekend.

This just keeps getting more and more impressive. To take a program that is snowed in during the early part of the season and turn it into a national conversation is huge for Appalachian State. I am impressed by the consistency that Pollard has been able to get out of his team in the face of all this recognition. It seems that these guys are focused on playing, and not reading their own press. Congratulations and keep it going fellas.

That may all be true, except for the snowed in part.

The Chicken Little types will soon be pointing to App's success this season as proof of global cooling global warming climate change.

  • appthunder90

climate change is real. happens in cycles every 30 years or so. what's not real is the countdown to doomsday when the ocean reaches beech mountain

  • JMcCray

So I guess you are a doubter of climate change Zen?

  • Zen

No, there is no doubt that Earth's climate has changed many, many times since it was formed.

What I seriously doubt is man's ability to influence it to any significant degree. I also doubt that there is much wisdom in attempting to do so.

  • JMcCray

Well, you might be surprised, but since this is really the first time an event like this has been recorded, all we can do is use correlation to current changes in atmospheric conditions.

But, you should be aware it is documented that humans can affect regional ecosystems and species survival.

  • JMcCray

And by "you" I really mean skeptics. And, no, I don't understand all of it either, I just don't put it past humans to mess something up because they don't think things through.

  • appdreamin

That's one thing we humans are really good at–not thinking everything through.

  • It took 4 posts to change the topic of this thread from a #27 ranking to f***ing global warming. Good God

  • VERY UPSET!! Went to the game yesterday and saw numerous people wearing the official dug-out club caps. Been over six weeks since my check(100.00) cleared the bank and have not heard a word. Any suggestions!!

  • JMcCray

I didn't change the subject, just merely asked a question about a comment somebody asked. That aside, it is an awesome accomplishment, especially since we are ahead of ECU! Looks like (North) Carolina is the place you want to be for good baseball.

Gonzo probably now doubts the posting credibility of everyone who mentioned climate change above, along with carbine, was it, on the other thread?

And Gonzo, it actually only took two posts before the climate change subject was raised above.

App-Forever – My $100 check cleared about the same time as yours it sounds like. Have not received anything either.

Not likely to remain in the polls after falling to Gardner-Webb today.

Ouch… dropped one to Gardner-Webb… that will effect our national rank

Hopefully Pollard can continue his success by using this season as leverage to get high class recruits… looks like he is doing just that, just added 3 impressive pitchers to the roster for next year.

If we take 2 of 3 at GSU we'll stand ground. Mid week games don't mean a whole lot this time of year. Take care of business the next 6 weekends and this GW game means nothing.
