With the 33rd pick, Brian Quick is taken by the St. Louis Rams!
Appalachian State’s Brian Quick, chosen 33rd overall as the 2012 NFL draft entered its second round, fits the profile. He’s 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds — more in line with wide receivers selected among the top few overall choices. Quick lasted until the 33rd pick because he’s raw, from a smaller program and lacking elite speed.
“Former hoops standout and high-jumper has had to endure four positional coaches in four years and would be best with simplified assignments, but possesses a unique combination of body length, hand-eye coordinator, hand strength and leaping ability,” Nolan Nawrocki wrote for Pro Football Weekly’s draft preview.

He’s also trending on the twitters.
From those same twitters – “Quick was the fifth of the five wide receivers the Rams who engaged in private workouts last weekend. He blew the team away with his workout”
WHERE WILL BE BE. Here’s the Rams 2012 schedule. They place San Fran (Kilgore!) twice, plus the Packers (DJ SMith!) and Tampa Bay (Corey Lynch?).

Congrats to HIS QUICKNESS!
Best of luck to B Quick!!!!
Good news, I look forward to seeing #8 help the Rams return to the glory years of "The Greatest Show on Turf."
Congrats Brian Quick! Loved seeing those highlights. He leaves a tremendous shoes too fill.
Great news for Brian and ASU. I suspect that the St. Louis fan base may not be too excited about this pick at the moment, but I think in time they will come to love him. Pretty high pick for a guy with so much to learn though.
Really? Bad temas make bad moves.
I listened to Buffalo GM Buddy Nix being interviewed on The Herd today and he spoke very highly of Quick. I think they would have taken him had he lasted that long.
The one good thing about that pick is Jeff Fisher.
Quick will bring Sheep Thrills to Ram fans!
CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN QUICK!!
Wow! Congrats BQ.
Seriously though, congrats to BQ!
Congrats to B. Quick! I loved when Mel added "Good football player." On a side note, did anyone notice Holt's left middle finger? Ouch.
CONGRATUALTIONS BQ! All of our Mountaineer family could not be more proud. Keep that Mountaineer fight in your heart and you may be in Pro Bowl one day.
This just goes on to further illustrate the brilliance and talent of our beloved coach Moore. No wonder this past season the team's offensive unit looked like a Chinese fire drill when on the field. When you have marginal talent that is worthy of going in the second round of the NFL Draft you have to really compensate to look that bad on the field.
Maybe we can get some guys that are first rounder's and go winless. That would definitely cement Moore's place in the "Hall of Shame".
Who is the only person that can keep Brian Quick from scoring…………Jerry Moore!
Man I'm so happy for him. What a great Mountaineer.
It is hard to say that a guy who set every WR record for the school should have been a bigger part of the game plan, but he should have gotten 15 attempts a game last year.
Congratulations Brian! Who was recruiting back in 2006-2007? We've had five draft picks from those two classes and none had "stars" coming out of high school.
yosef82
Have you been this way your whole life or did you just fall on your head in the last year or so. You are a true embarrasment to this university. Grow up!
CONGRATS, BRIAN! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU! I'm polishing up that photo I took of you and framed that you autographed for me. It is proudly displayed in the NFL section of my App State Football room! WAY TO GO, BQ!!! Love ya lots!

Awesome article about BQ on Yahoo. Congratulations Brian, excellent exposure for Appalachian!
Shawn Elliott recruited him. BQ very very proud!
Potomac pelican please do us all a favor and run your car into a brick wall. What is that I can not hear you over your mother calling you a worthless piece of trash.
Ordering my jersey as soon as its available…
Congrats BQ…can't hide a Diamond in the Ruff
82..
Be Bitter…. but be Gone
Part of being a professional is to realize a Problem and Fix it …JM is that professional
He holds the all time school records in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions and folks act like we never threw him the ball. Could we have utilized him more, certainly but let's not use his draft rank as another means by the anti-Jerry Moore forces to get in their digs. Seems under Jerry Moore he did pretty good for himself. It truly amazes me the length to which some of these miserable folks will go. Let's celebrate BQ's success and not sully it with such trite comments.
Love the picture of BQ on the opening page of ESPN.com right now, great exposure for us.

Gonna have to change my name on here NOW!!! Congrats to BQ….I wonder if Bradford knows hes gonna have to give up that number 8 jersey!!!
Yosef82,
Quick comes into a run-oriented offense with one year of football experience and leaves after four years (and four position coaches) as the best receiver the school has ever seen (sorry Dex), the holder of multiple receiving records and the highest-drafted Mountaineer ever. And you're calling for Coach Moore's head?!? Not a lot of coaches can develop a player the way Jerry and his staff have developed Brian Quick.
Maybe take your asinine opinions over to the WCU thread.
Davon Fowlkes (sp?) was good.
6 feet 3 and a half….Not the first time an ASU football roster inflated the numbers.
All teams do that Ceez…you know that. Also, 82, shut the heck up and just do us all a favor and stop posting on here. You're tiresome and bothersome. CONGRATS BQ!!!!!!! Ya'll think DP might go late?
I do know that. It actually upsets me, because I thought I was 6'3" but Quick is at least an inch taller than me. At least last time I stood next to him
The players are measured at the combine in "stocking feet" and he measured in at 6'3" 5/8. (Does anyone still wear "stockings"? Can't we say socks?) In cleats, Quick will be dang close to 6'5" and most colleges measure them in cleats.
Edwards maybe toast with Joe Adams coming to Carolina unless he starts making something happen on PR.
Anyone see this article on Dex? Seems he may have been taken for a ride by his manager.
http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/17858707/ny-jet-a…
I fear you are right about AE…I do not think he got a fair shake in Charlotte due to Fox, but that is the NFL….The Pats wanted him draft day three years ago. Maybe they will take him now. One can hope. If not he can come back to Boone and get his Masters while he helps mold new QB's!
If its a joint account Dex will be lucky to see a dime.
I too hope AE has improved as a WR as Adams is a proven returner. These guys basicly fill the same role on the Panthers roster now and unfortunately I'd bet only one makes it to opening day.
BQ on the other hand will make the Pro Bowl during his career.
who is the idiot who said that BQ was the "best non-1A player available in the draft? These guys will never get over the 1-AA transition to 1-A will they?
Sounded like Mel Kiper
But that comment is true, just not up-to-date. He was the best non-1A player. 1A = fbs.
Hurney said they expect Armanti to compete for a wideout spot and Adams to do punt returns. With Nanee out of the picture, it makes sense to bolster the receiving core a bit. Hopefully AE has put in the same kind of work he did last offseason and will have gotten even more comfortable at his new spot.
BB Apps take 2 from wofferd today….both by one run…thanks for the info Appdreamin
Just read that deandre has already been picked up by the chargers in free agency?!
Nice piece from Yahoo on BQ:
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl–rams-land-next-…
Lwade, where do you see that on DP?
Im pretty sure it was retweeted from some App twitter feed by Scot Sloan … could be false though?
That is where it was from … He retweeted it from ASU Athletics … now some players are tweeting congratulating him
cool… wanted to share on Facebook but wanted to link to some confirmation… cool beans!
DP to San Diego? Free Agency? Link?
Aikens facebook status says the texans, patriots, giants & ravens are interested, just waiting for his manager to work something out
Apparently, Cadet has signed with New Orleans.
Cadet signs with the Saints!
Here's all the undrafted free agent signings.
http://www.nflroughdraft.com/node/157
Another list of UDFA. Confirms DP to San Diego and Cadet to Saints. Haven't seen Ahmeet Pall's name anywhere. Always thought he was a dang good player. Hoping Aiken, Witte or Wylie gets a shot somewhere.
Forgot the link, oops.
http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2012-nfl-undrafted…
GoASU.com has an article about DP and Cadet.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/post/1…
I love this little blurb about Quick!
It looks like Carolina signed 6 free agent wide receivers. Armanti has got some challenges ahead.
Panthers sign two receivers from Shenandoah? Huh?
I know people have trouble pronouncing Appalachian, but usually they can spell it…well not this time:
Appilacian State
From one of the links someone listed above.
This may be a dumb question and it probably has been discussed before, but whatever became of Ben Jorden? I always expected to see him on an NFL roster.
SD is looking to replace Sproles, and I wouldn't be surprised if they at least work DP out at some offensive capacity.
Yeah our coaching staff sucks. They took a kid with one year of football experience who was not heavily recruited and turned him into the school's all time best receiver.
Love some of the comments in this highlight video. E.g. "Forget Quick who is the QB?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nn5OhdzRyI
Hey, what do you know–midwest is finally right about something!
"This may be a dumb question…but whatever became of Ben Jorden?"
He's absolutely right! That IS a dumb question!
Ok, Quick got drafted. I am amazed considering, but he was the only one and the other two are slum dog million-airs (far from it).
Better than being a slum dog dumb app
Presley and cadet signed today! 10 guys in the league!

Late, I know, just read the other posts.
Carmine,
You never have anything to offer to the conversation except attacking my comments. Grow up and grow a pair. You talk big on here but I guarantee you couldn't back it up in person. Some of my predictions may have been wrong, but you can take that one to the bank!
And stop taking my comments out of context. I said the Bears were interested in Quick, not that they would draft him.
YOU are the one who's always talking trash, saying what you're gonna do, etc. I've never said anything like that at all. I can't believe how ridiculously juvenile you are, and how easy to bait. You've put things in writing here that you could literally get arrested for, if I cared enough about anything you said to take it seriously. Grow a pair? Hell, you need to GROW UP!
So why don't you two decide on a place and have a good old-fashioned break dance fight?
Seriously, it's a message board where people can say what they want so why get so steamed?
A Griz and a Mountaineer drafted by Jeff Fisher, very cool !
Congrats to B Quick! I hope this helps with recruiting for App St! I wish Satterfield could have been his coach for all of his years at App. He very well could have ended up in the 1st round with what I was reading from Jeff Fisher's comments about BQ.
I belive Fishers son played at Montana when we played them in the semis in 09
GRIZZ, practice this year will be like the semis all over again … ya know, except without the snow. lol.
Really surprised that someone hasn't taken a flyer on Wylie, Aiken or Witte. Gainey managed to screw up his career. Jordan is a great player, and a great guy, but he's not tall enough for a TE in the NFL, a little extra weight, and has suffered through a slew of injuries. I know so many people on here, including me, wanted to see him more involved in the passing game, but this past year he was injured for a good portion of the season.
Was told by a friend, unconfirmed and this guy is not always accurate in his info (lol), that Frye was getting a workout as a blocking back(?). Anyone heard anything?
Tampa picked a safety in the first round. Lynch has an uphill battle…
We have a lot of fun on here but one thing for sure we can be thankful for. Nobody on here coaches our team!!(:
My apologies for bringing this up in a non-realignment thread, but since there isn't one, here seems as good a place as any…
What does everyone think about UTSA getting the CUSA invitation? With North Texas and FIU set to be formally invited in a number of days, that brings the league back up to 11. La. Tech is presumed to be #12, but that's less certain.
Is there any chance App State gets in instead? Would CUSA lean more towards Ga. State or UNCC? Is even the Sun Belt door still open?
Personally, if I were to make a prediction (not a preference, mind you, but a predictions), I think we end up in the CAA. That league has to add a football-playing school as a full member in order to meet the NCAA's minimum requirements for leagues to sponsor football. As large as the CAA is for football, tge only full members who will be playing football by 2014 will be ODU, JMU, Towson, Delaware, and Wiliam & Mary. The minimum is six. So, in effect, we will not end up replacing VCU or George Mason when they leave for the A-10, but, rather, we will replace Georgia State. The basketball league, with UNCW and ODU still in it, would still be a slight improvement from the SoCon, and football would be better, too.
If he couldn't go to a consistently winning franchise, I'm glad Quick (1) went to a team coached by a proven winner, and (2) didn't go to the Panthers. I realize the two points are pretty much mutually exclusive.
As to UTSA and UNT, market replacements for the Texas teams CUSA lost (FIU somewhat the same for UCF). Also, I believe UTSA was to become FBS this year anyway, conference invitation or not, as they'd completed the NCAA road of requirements leading to the promised land. I may be confusing them with some other school, however.
Join CAA, assuming CAA is still FCS? On the surface, why? Beneath the surface, better league (both football and basketball), better competition, probably better academic peer fit, more like-minded schools in terms of eventually moving to FBS. But all options with existing FBS leagues would have to be exhausted first, it would seem to me, before we made a largely lateral move.
+1
