Hold us! – “For fans looking for a reason to tune in, this might be the most compelling one: It could be Armanti Edwards’ last stand with the Panthers. “Some people can transition quickly. Some it takes more time,” Edwards said. “Unfortunately for me, it’s taken more time. But I know I can do it.”” Panthers-Steelers kickoff at 7.
Much respect for AE. Any ball team would be lucky to have him.
Won't be able to watch down here tonight, but REALLY hoping he has a nice game tonight, if for no other reason to make the decision much tougher for the Panthers management. Seems like his fate is probably sealed already, but let's see what happens tonight…..
Gettis being out will certainly help his case. If he does get cut, it's for the best though. I'd rather see him play for another team then see him sitting for the Panthers, never being giving a serious shot at receiver in a regular season game.
As much as I love he is on his "hometown" team, I am hoping the Panthers do him a favor and cut him. There are several teams who wanted him in the draft and will sign him and actually give him a chance should he get cut.
At this point I really would love to have him find a good team that will use him, preferably in the NFC South and come back an dominate the Panthers a couple times a year.
Rivera has not given him that many oppurtunities. You can say he has had a great camp, but then you hardly ever put him into a preseason game and when you do the QB in there either doesn't look at him or is running for his life.
Also why is it never mentioned for AE's punt returns last year that the Panther's punt return team had to be the worst in the league. When there are 2-3 people within 5 feet when you catch the ball it is hard to return. When you do return for more than 10 yards there is a penalty.
Doesn't seem like he's been targeted much in preseason, kind of hard to show you can contribute when you hardly ever get the ball.
Money, I'm hoping for whatever you're hoping for. I'm proud of you no matter what happens. I just hope that you're given the opportunity (that you definitely have NOT been given so far!) to shine like we all know you can!
I'll be pulling for you all the way from Boone to Charlotte tonight! GO PANTHERS!!!
Oops! Make that all the way up to PITTSBURGH! I guess I'll have to yell a lot louder…but you know I can! You've heard me!
isnt armanti taller than russell wilson?
" I just hope that you’re given the opportunity (that you definitely have NOT been given so far!)"
"Doesn’t seem like he’s been targeted much in preseason, kind of hard to show you can contribute when you hardly ever get the ball."
"Rivera has not given him that many oppurtunities. You can say he has had a great camp, but then you hardly ever put him into a preseason game and when you do the QB in there either doesn’t look at him or is running for his life."
Ughhhhh. C'mon guys, get real. Let's be sensible about this. If this was ANYONE else besides our ex-QB, none of you would be saying this. If AE deserved the looks, he'd be getting them. If AE was a good enough received to get open, he'd be getting targeted. If AE deserved to be a started, he'd be one.
These are NFL scouts, NFL general managers and NFL coaches we are talking about. They don't just dismiss talent because they don't like a guy, or don't believe in him. Their paycheck depends on one thing…wins. If AE can help them do that, he will be there. If not, there is a good reason for it.
Good luck AE, whatever happens.
*receiver and starter. sorry.
Looks likes some Deadskins folks are interested in AE http://www.hogshaven.com/2012/8/30/3279691/waiver…
You have a point to an extent Hogan, however, there's no denying that Pickles and Anderson don't have the same ability (or opportunity, based on line play) to find deep targets or even progess well through their reads.
If he goes to the redskins I may just have to end myself, since I can't pull for them.
My disappointment has been that he's not been give ANY shot at the QB position when Clawson is a JOKE!
I think the Panthers have tried to use AE in TOO many places.
I think AE should be a slot receiver. Those guys aren't huge, they aren't the fastest, but typically have good hands and can make the first guy miss.
AE is those two things.
I mean, you don't see the Patriots throwing Wes Welker go routes or fades into the endzone, yet he scores TDs with regularity.
In my opinion, the Panthers have said we want AE to be "this" type of receiver and not really looked at what abilities he possesses and try to put him in places where he can help them.
As much as I hate to say it, that is something that Bill Bellick is really, really good at!
I think tonight is the last time AE plays for the Panthers (although there is a part of me that hopes AE makes the team just so the Caroline Huddle guys website explodes and burns to the ground – of course, then it will just turn into 'he'll never play threads')
Everyone:
As much as we'll all hate to see him go….if the Panthers cut Armanti my guess is that he won't be on the waiver wire long.
At the end of the day, it's all about opportunity and being wanted. Somebody's got hi on their wish list…..I'd bet on it. I really like the thought of him going to the Redskins. With RG III and Cousins at QB, he would fit in at Return man, receiver, and maybe even a little QB.
"Yessir" AE is still a gentleman….That is one reason I have loved this young man.
Armanti, wherever you end up you will always and forever be the beloved 14 running rampant underneath dreadlocks.
Give it all you got just like you did in Ann Arbor, at The Rock, against Richmond and in the two NC games and you will land on your feet…
Your fellow Black and Gold alums are pulling for you tonight and wherever and for whomever you will be playing next week.
