Friday. 6 o’ clock.
That’s the time when NFL dreams die or live. All rosters have to be reduced to 53. Have to.
Not everyone will make it. Painful cuts are inevitable.
One guy not sweating it? Our beloved DP. He’s too busy to worry.
Too busy …given ‘em hell!
Considering the circumstances, Presley has had a solid showing. He has nine tackles, a pass defensed and an interception in three games. He has also averaged 19.3 yards on three kickoff returns and 5.7 yards on a pair of punt returns.
He did so despite playing most of Friday’s exhibition against Minnesota due to injury at defensive back, and secured his interception playing in place of starter Quentin Jammer. Another strong showing would certainly help his cause to make a team with a rich tradition of finding contributors among those alienated by the NFL draft.
Working in his favor is uncertainty at his positions of expertise. The Chargers remain undecided with their return men, although Micheal Spurlock and Richard Goodman have experience manning those posts.
More important is the injury situation at corner. Antoine Cason is the only healthy corner with NFL experience. Jammer, Shareece Wright and presumed nickelback Marcus Gilchrist have all been hampered by hamstring injuries.
DP and Superman (yep, he’s still there) close out the preseason tonight at Kilgore’s place. Kickoff at 10.
We’re coming your way,
We’re gonna dazzle you with our super play!
Speaking of final cuts, it looks like Judgment Day hath cometh for Armanti Edwards:
