If ever there were some big “meaningless” games, tonight is it. We’ve already mentioned AE and Panthers in Steeler-land, and the San Fran App reunion with DP, Kilgore and Superman. Travaris Cadet should see some time when the Saints play at Tennessee. He’s thisclose to making the team. The Quickness was too high a draft pick to have any worries. Rams play Ravens tonight. And Hey Mr. DJ Smith should entertain Kansas City. If anyone needs us, we’ll be in front of the TV with hands over our eyes.
Tutu drops a pass right in his chest and Adams muffs his first punt return. I would say thats probably the best start for AE without actually catching a ball!
Adams fumble on second punt return.
Murphy drops a pass a juggles another and they talk about how great he is.
Armanti gets two impossible and crappy throws and all they do is say he has to come up with those. He just does not get near the targets that others do.
that was a could move, who knows what happnes
Nice catch and run. Now, AE needs more throws to prove his worth.
Armanti showed great acceleration on that catch and run.
Armanti with two great blocks one that ensured a 1st down.
Make that 3 and 2 first downs
Remember how awkward it was watching Jordan try to play baseball? Thats how i have felt ever since AE first put on a panthers uniform.
The biggest slap in the face joke of all this is that Armanti is on the bubble, probably going to be cut, and all night Mixon and Rucker have been going on and on about how he has to make plays. Meanwhile, Clausen is so bad that he makes me miss Chris Weinke and David Carr, and they don't say a word. What a joke
Anyone know what happened to the pass intended for Quick that was intercepted?
The worst pick of the 2010 draft was Clausen. By a mile.
Quick was running left, pass was just a little behind him over his left shoulder and defender had a better angle.
AE has played pretty good. But the big question is…is it good enough and not too late.
Gwaltineer, I couldn't agree more about Clausen.
Cadet has played nearly the entire game and looks pretty darn good. He'll start eventually somewhere. Saints just might be too loaded to keep him and if cut, will find playing team elsewhere
Playing time*
looks like the Big East is talking about adding teams….. let the shuffling continue…..

While I'm happy for Russel Wilson, it irritates me to no end that Edwards did not get a chance to compete for QB.
Cadet just got injured. Not exactly sure what happened though
DAMN!! Can AE PLEASE get some blocking on the punt returns???
Pickle was a huge bust.
McNeese is taking it to Suckbelt school Middle Tenn
Cadet just had the wind knocked out of him. He's fine and should make the team!
That happened to him at the end of the Ga So game last year. He didn't MOVE for what seemed like an ETERNITY but after a few minutes he was okay.
GOOD LUCK, TC! THE APP NATION IS PULLING FOR YOU!
AE was a great 1AA QB, one of the best. In the NFL he is not a QB. As a wr he is below average. He can't catch the ball if there is a defender near him and his blocking is below average. He looks like he does not want to be there. He is a good guy and a pretty smart guy but he just does not look like he wants to be an NFL player. What FREE said above really rings true. I hope AE gets what he wants but it really does not look like this is it.
Tutu has been cut
Regarding Cadet. Wow. He was always good – but never the standout that he has suddenly become on the Saints. Was he wrong for our scheme? Did our coaches not know what we had? Looks like if we had used him properly, he could have been as dominant as AE and KRich. Just sayin'
Danner, he's a different kind of runner than KRich, but no, we did not use him right..
Joe – Agreed – turns out he is the football player the Panthers thought they were getting with AE. Extremely versatile and fearless. (Not that AE isn't fearless, but he's a QB. Shame on Rivera for not realizing that after John Fox put him in the grinder.) The frustrating thing is the Saints run a fast tempo, quick progression O that we ran during our dynasty campaign. Cadet would have probably been much better with that staff and O-line. Oh well, he is making a statement now. Good for him.
Atlanta – Hey, is there a group here in Atlanta getting together for the game tomorrow?
Onlooker – what makes you say that AE is not an NFL QB? What is the conventional wisdom that you have that we all seem to lack? It can't be his size. Is it his ability to go through progressions? Understand a complex offense? While there is no other player in the NFL like Cam Newton – the skills are very similar between the two. Everyone says he is not an NFL QB. Why? I agree that old school football players and fans (those who still like the wishbone) have this view. But seriously – why do you say that?
Charlotte Observer is reporting that AE WILL NOT be waived by the Carolina Panthers
According to local TV news, AE survived final cuts!
I bet the cat scratch reader is melting down right now.
I sorta wish he would have been waived… AE will likely be inactive and if dresses will only do so thanks to injuries, etc… I wish he could move on somewhere else.
83,
I've actually been following the the happenings on CSR this week and I think the sentiment around there was if Carolina was keeping 6 or 7 WR that they wanted Armanti to stick around. Most thought that AE had shown more than Tutu and coupled with the fact that Aramanti wasn't eligible for the PS he was the best fit at this time with Gettis on the injured list.
I have a challenge for everyone on this board.
Go to the Charlotte Observer page and start ripping on everyone that has made bad comments about AE over the past few weeks and months saying he was going to be cut. I don't know if I've ever seen a player that has generated so much hatred on the comments section of articles. We're talking about a guy with great character who goes out day after day and attempts to improve his game and contribute to the team. But apparently that is good enough for Panthers fan.
I'll be honest, this debacle with AE has made me really question my team (Panthers) and our team's fans. I wish he would have been drafted by some other team where he could play in a town where no one knew who he was. Our fans have been out from blood since the day he was drafted. He's never had a fair chance in Carolina, period. And I'm talking about coaching, development, media, fans, etc.
Good luck to AE as he moves forward. I hope he makes people eat crow.
I'm surprised he made it, honestly. I guess they feel there's too much invested to cut him now. I Would have been ok with him being waived and getting a chance with a new team.
Good luck AE.
Why is everyone "kinda" wishing he got waived. As much as we all love AE, there would be no guarantee he would of been picked up by anyone else. At least this way he is guaranteed to be on a team and another sweet pay check. Not to mention since its his last year and they kept him, he's gonna get some chances to shine. Just my 2 cents.
danner
My conventional wisdom is that the professionals in the scouting and mgt of the NFL say he is not an NFL QB. That is from 3 scouts who live in the Triangle area to my and some friends ears at 2 different parties. You really think a bunch of keyboard jockeys are smarter than them?
