As a group they average 289 pounds, and 6 foot, 3 inches.
The oldest of the group has the least amount of experience, while the youngest is comparably a grizzled vet.
Collectively they’re the App State starting offensive line, aka. Jamal Jackson’s best friends. And it’s time for them to get some love.
Hey everyone! Meet Jerry’s Kids!
“I refer to them as, ‘The kids,’” Moore said of his offensive line, which starts three sophomores, a freshman and a junior and has no seniors on the two-deep. “I walk by them and say, ‘How are my kids doing?’ Because they are young. But they’re having fun right now.”
Three are on the App State athletic academic honor roll, and two make the league honor roll.
And last Saturday, they looked pretty good.
Let’s meet the Kids, shall we?
Starting at left tackle … number 74 … Kendall Lamm!
A 6-6, 280-pound sophomore from Charlotte, he started the first seven games of 2011 before being sidelined with a ankle injury. Then came some unpleasantness off the field. He was gone. Then he came back. Thus, he’s the come back kid.
Starting at left guard .. number 63 … Shaq Counts!
A 6-2, 295-pound redshirt freshman from Irmo, SC. He played three games before a back injury ended his season. He’s a computer information systems major, so guess he’s the whiz kid.
Starting at center … number 55 … Graham Fisher!
A 6-2, 285-pound sophomore from Waynesville. He played in every game last year, and started at left guard the final five. He added 15 pounds during the offseason. He’s into hunting, fishing and NASCAR, so obviously he’s the country kid.
Starting at right guard … number 77 … Alex Acey!
The ‘lil kid, he’s 5-10 and 268. The sophomore from Clay, Alabama started every game last season at center …. as a walk-on true freshman.
And at right tackle … number 72 … Regan Dufort!
The big kid. And he’s old too! At 315 pounds the junior from Fredricksburg, Virginia is the third heaviest player on the entire roster. At 6-6 he’s among the tallest. His nickname is “Big Rig.” He played in 13 games back in 2011, but just three last year.
We love excellent line play, and look forward to watching the Kids grow up.
Give ‘em hell!
Beat Montana.

If they keep improving, stay healthy and stay out of trouble … the rest of the nation better watch out. These guys are going to be good!!! Scary that there are no seniors on the 2 deep. Watch our succon … we are baccckkkk!!
Seriously I saw things last Saturday that if the train stays on the right course we are going to be back to where we should be … winning and grinning!!!
Saturday should be a great test for both sides of the line as Montana averages over 270 on the D and over 300 on the O.
Awesome. That means, barring any unforseen maladies, we go into 2014 losing only one upperclassman off that line.
What a difference a simple thing like a compentent OL coach makes. Instead of joking with the players I think that Moore should be apologizing to them. He was the one that brought the last idiot in here and then refused to do anything about the situation. Not until CC got involved did it corrected.
But, these guys are going to be scary good if last week is any indication. They looked super good against a DL that was nothing to laugh at.

I remember seeing Shaq Counts' highlight video two years ago when he was being recruited. Impressive. I hope he stays well and makes some grizzly pancakes today!

And who do we play in 2014??….. Rematch at the big house!
