NFL – Mountaineers in the divisional round
- Updated: January 11, 2014
Last weekend the Colts, Saints and 49ers all advanced in the NFL postseason. All three have a Mountaineer on the roster; two of them had big roles in the wins. Here’s where they play next.
SAINTS AT SEAHAWKS, Saturday at 4:35 p.m.
Travaris Cadet didn’t see any time on the field last week, but New Orleans’ sudden focus on the ground game means he may be called for some snaps.
Last week against the Eagles, the Saints ran the ball 36 times for 185 yards. Mark Ingram, Darren Sproles and Khiry Robinson had most of the reps. With Pierre Thomas possibly in limbo, Cadet could find himself in that rotation.
COLTS AT PATRIOTS, Saturday at 8:15 p.m.
Last week the Colts came back from 28 down to the Chiefs to take a 1-point lead. They then almost lost it, if not for a super play.
Lynch found himself the last man standing between Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and the end zone with four minutes and 21 seconds remaining.
“If I had missed that tackle, we wouldn’t have won the game,” Lynch said. “I was coming from about 20 yards away from him.”
The reward is taking on the team of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The Colts are actually a weekend favorite to pull an upset.
49ERS AT PANTHERS, Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
Daniel Kilgore saw plenty of time on the field against the Packers last week. He was also blocking during the game winning field goal.
His job now will be helping better protect Colin Kaepernick against one of the NFL’s best defenses. The Niners managed only 9 points in a one-point loss to Carolina in San Fran earlier in the season. In the fourth quarter alone they managed just four yards of offense, while Kaepernick was sacked thrice and intercepted (He was taken down six times total in the game).
